SEJARAH BERDIRINYA SM ENTERTAINMENT


S.M. Entertainment atau dikenal SMEnt merupakan perusahaan bakat utama, produser, dan penerbit musik pop Korea yang
didirikan tanggal 14 Februari 1995 oleh Penyanyi senior Lee Soo Man
(Singkatan SM dari namanya yaitu Soo Man,sekrang
singkatannya diganti menjadi Star Museum
[Museum Bintang]) pada tahun 1995 setelah ia
lulus dari sebuah institusi kesenian, idenya
mendirikan SM Entertainment setelah ia
memperhatikan revolusi dunia hiburan di Amerika
Serikat (saat masa jayanya Michael Jackson) dan
dia merasa bahwa itu akan menjadi potensi tinggi
akan kesuksesannya. Dia pun membuat rencana
untuk menciptakan "Hollywood versi Korea" nya
sendiri.

Tak lama setelah mendirikan
manajemennya sendiri, dia meluncurkan beberapa
boyband dan girlband yang kemudian menjadi
sangat sukses di Korea Selatan dan kawasan asia
seperti H.O.T, S.E.S, dan Shinwa. Kesuksesan boy
dan girlband binaan Soo Man kemudian menjadi
pelopor sistem boy dan girlband dikalangan dunia
hiburan internasional.

Selain itu SMENT juga
merilis artis-artis lain seperti penyanyi BoA yang
sukses besar di USA, TVXQ yang menjadi boyband
bersejarah dengan rekor fans 800.000 orang, Girl's
Generation atau SNSD yang menjadi Girlband
paling sukses di Korsel, Super Junior yang juga
sama suksesnya dengan SNSD. SHINee, F(x) dan EXO yang debut dengan gaya remaja
yang keren, dan masih banyak lagi artis yang lain
walaupun tidak begitu terkenal. Sebutan bagi
kumpulan artis-artis SMENT adalah SMTown.

SM Entertainment juga mempublikasi artis Jepang seperti Ayumi Hamasaki, Namie Amuro dan Koda Kumi. S.M. Entertainment juga suka mengadakan Tour Concert biasanya dinamakan SMTOWN. S.M.Entertainment juga memiliki project dari artis-artis yang dibinanya seperti S.M. The Ballad yang
beranggotakan Super Junior Kyuhyun, SHINee Jonghyun, TRAX Jay, dan Jino. Selain S.M. The Ballad ada juga kolaborasi antara Super Junior Heechul dengan TRAX Jungmo yang disebut M&D.
